The painting days will be published shortly, but in the meantime there may be some flexibility with the dates if you are planning a holiday in Lunigiana. Contact me to find out.
The aim of this one day course is to give you the confidence to express yourself more freely and to better ‘see’ what may be useful in your work, through a series of practical exercises and discussion. At the end of the day you will be looking at things differently, you will have learnt to be positively critical and importantly, you will leave with some practical tips to enable you to move forwards creatively.
The day will start with a discussion over coffee about what art you like and why. Following this I will present an actual example of a series of artworks to demonstrate what we are trying to achieve, not just by the end of the day, but for your future practice.
The morning will then be spent working on a number of exercises designed to open up new approaches to looking at the subject matter and exploring a variety of different art materials and techniques.
The main emphasis for the morning will be on:
MARK-MAKING AND MATERIALS
A BRIEF PRESENTATION ON COLOUR THEORY
The exercises will be adapted to ensure that you are not struggling or feel alienated by lack of technique.
There will then be a lunch break where we will enjoy some Tuscan sunshine and a selection of locally produced food.
After lunch we will be concentrating on ‘the IDEA’ and PRESENTATION. We will look at why the concept is important in art and we will explore how best to express this.
At the end of the afternoon we will have an aperitivo (or a cup of tea) and a critique of the days work.
THIS COURSE IS NOT SUITED TO COMPLETE BEGINNERS. It is for artists who feel they may be ‘stuck in a rut’ and want to express themselves more satisfactorily. Any absence of technique or confidence, however, is not an issue.
